About LA Christian Academy

She founded Escuela de Montessori and Escuela Elementary Center, with campuses in Westchester, Long Beach, and Redondo Beach, before founding Escuela Plus Elementary. She holds a B.A. from Sacramento State, an M.A. in Psychology from USC, a Reading Specialist credential from UCLA, and an administrative credential and doctorate from USC and Pepperdine. She was the first African American woman on the Board of Trustees of Marlborough School and continues to advise Escuela Plus as a board member and Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher.

Earlier in her career she worked as a public interest attorney and deputy attorney general, focusing on youth advocacy, consumer protection, and criminal law. As founding director of the City of Los Angeles' Office of Reentry, she built lasting employment, housing access, and recidivism-reduction programs for thousands of formerly incarcerated individuals. On the Superior Court she served in the criminal, appellate, mental health, and substance abuse treatment divisions and chaired multiple judicial committees, including a judicial mentorship program that served nearly 5,000 attorneys.

In 2026 she founded All Thrive Collective, dedicated to youth well-being and resilience, and serves as a private mediator and associate professor of law at Pepperdine University School of Law. She is the author of Black Prep: Life Lessons of a Perpetual Outsider, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and four daughters.
